Joint Statement – Investing in our childrens’ future at Hampton Primary School

19 July 2022.

A Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will provide Hampton Primary School with $7.7 million to develop a masterplan and build a brand new multipurpose facility.

Students and teachers will be able to enjoy an accessible and modern building which will include an indoor sports area with a netball court, specialist teaching rooms, change rooms and a canteen.

Leader of the Opposition, Matthew Guy, said this investment will benefit not only Hampton Primary School, but also the local community.

“Hampton Primary School is over 100 years old and has been constantly overlooked by the Andrews Labor Government.

“After two years of interrupted learning, it’s more important than ever to invest in our schools, have the best facilities possible and encourage students to get active.”

Member for Brighton, James Newbury, said the school-led petition with almost a thousand signatures to date demonstrates the need for better infrastructure at Hampton Primary School.

“The online petition speaks for itself, with hundreds of people in the local community calling for this upgrade. This is a necessary investment for our community and will solidify the school’s position as the ‘Hub of Hampton’.”

“Only the Liberals and Nationals will give our children at Hampton Primary School the facilities they need for the future by funding this vital project.”
