Stop the Crime Crisis
THE STATE LABOR GOVERNMENT MUST STOP IGNORING THE CRIME CRISIS.
The most recent crime data shows that there has been a 10 per cent increase in crime and a 20 per cent increase in youth crime, over the last year.
We also know that there has been a 18.4 per cent Statewide increase in residential aggravated burglaries – which are now up 146 per cent since 2014.
We need action to stop the crime crisis.
As your local representative, James Newbury has been committed to fighting for a new police station in our Brighton community – a commitment that the Labor Government refused to agree to.
In addition, in Parliament, the Liberal Party has attempted to:
- Introduce move on laws (to make it easier for Police to stop protesting groups that are out of control),
- Introduce stronger machete laws (to make it harder to buy or sell a machete),
- And introduce tougher bail laws (to stop Labor from watering down bail laws and make it easier for repeat offenders to get bail).
All of these proposals were rejected by Premier Jacinta Allan and the Labor Government , who voted against the Liberal Party’s attempts in the Parliament.
