Oak Grange Site Redevelopment, Brighton East

OPPOSE EXCESSIVE CONSTRUCTION AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS IN YOUR NEIGHBOURGHOOD.

The Oak Grange Retirement Village is about to be redeveloped, increasing from two-storey buildings with 110 residents to multiple buildings of 3, 4 and 5 storeys accommodating 432 residents and a 270 space underground carpark.

We are calling on Bayside Council to listen to the community and provide genuine opportunity for residents to have a say about the impacts of the construction and traffic management plans.

This 5-year redevelopment intends to close residential streets, with extended working hours to 8pm at night (6 days a week), and major excavation works adjacent to a Heritage Precinct.

We know that if approved the works will impact everyone who accesses Hawthorn Road, Union Street, Thomas Street, the Nepean Highway and the neighbouring streets, affecting access to local primary schools and shopping precincts.

This is only one of several similar large-scale developments that are also in progress with Council. With concurrent major construction projects in the same precinct, Bayside Council must ensure that it puts in place conditions that protect its residents regarding traffic, parking, access and safety.

We, your neighbours, are calling on Bayside Council to:

Reject the outrageous construction & traffic management plans, which will shut out streets and allow nighttime works six days a week; and

Properly consult Bayside residents to ensure that any future works do not negatively impact the local community.
