MEMBERS STATEMENT

‘BRIGHTON UNITING CHURCH’.

Wednesday, 1 November 2023.

Mr NEWBURY (Brighton) (9:55):

On a hot February day in 1853 congregants of what has become Trinity Uniting, first worshipped together in a tent in Carpenter Street, Brighton.

This year the church celebrates its 170th anniversary.

From a tent, then to a wooden chapel in Male Steet, the congregation finally bought a block of land in Black Street in 1858.

The congregation have since met at the wonderful church building that was built in 1875.

Congratulations to the Brighton Uniting family, including Vicar Kevin Kim, historian Merrowyn Deacon and church leadership Helen Wells and John Black on your commitment and service to our community.
